UW-Stevens Point concert features three choirs

Three University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Music Department choirs will combine for a concert this month. It will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center, part of the Music Department Scholarship Series.

The concert includes the Women’s Choir, conducted by Professor Judy Bond, and the Concert Choir and Choral Union, conducted by Professor Lucinda Thayer. Mary Ellen Mitchell of Stevens Point will provide piano accompaniment.

Tickets are $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available.

The Women’s Choir will perform “Psalm 100,” “Beneath the African Sky” featuring oboe by Professor Stacey Berk, “Trouble, Fly” and three movements from “Winter Cantata” with student musicians Brianna Trainor on percussion and Sarah Lange on flute.

The Concert Choir will sing “Two Madrigals,” “Voices of Earth,” “The Road Home,” “Calling My Children Home” and “Magnificent Horses” featuring Assistant Professor Tara Schwab on flute.

The Choral Union will perform “Sure On This Shining Night,” selections from “The City and the Sea” and “If Music Be the Food of Love.”
