Pop music, dance offered in concert by UW-Stevens Point choirs

Featuring popular music by Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, Adele, Florence and the Machine and others, three University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point choirs will perform a Pops Concert on Sunday, May 3. Student choreography and dance will be included.
 

The Women’s Choir, Concert Choir and Choral Union will perform at 3 p.m. at Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center. The choirs are conducted by music professors Judy Bond and Lucinda Thayer, with assistance from choral education student Allycia Zalac of Stevens Point. Mary Ellen Mitchell of Stevens Point will provide piano accompaniment, and music faculty member Ryan Korb will play drums. 

Several choir members will have solos, and others will be featured dancers. The program includes arrangements of songs, including “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars, “The Sound of Silence” by Paul Simon, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “All of Me” by Sam Smith, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” by Kelly Clarkson and “Pompeii” by Bastille. 

Tickets are $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens, $4.25 for students and free the day of the concert for students with a UW-Stevens Point I.D. Tickets also may be purchased at the door if available.
