UW-Stevens Point to host breakfast with Santa, bluegrass bands

The community is invited to two public events at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Saturday, Dec. 7.

  • Breakfast with Santa, 9 a.m. to noon
    Families and children will enjoy a pancake breakfast with the jolly old elf himself, as well as holiday cookie decorating and a free photo with Santa. Tickets are $6 per person or free with a UW-Stevens Point or Mid-State student I.D.

  • Bluegrass concert: Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and The Boys N’ the Barrels, 8 p.m.
    Horseshoes and Hand Grenades hails from Stevens Point and plays high-energy, progressive string-band music. The five members have shared the stage with the Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain String Band, Charlie Parr, Art Stevenson and High Water, The Big Wu and more (www.hhgmusic.com). The opening band, The Boys N’ the Barrels, is from Minneapolis, Minn. With influences from old-time to jazz and rock, the band appeals to traditional and contemporary tastes (www.theboysnthebarrels.com). Tickets are $5 per person or free with a UW-Stevens Point or Mid-State student I.D. 

Sponsored by Centertainment Productions, both events will be held in the Laird Room of the Dreyfus University Center (DUC), 1015 Reserve Street, Stevens Point. Tickets are available at the University Information and Tickets in the DUC concourse, by calling 800-346-4100 or at the door.
