Music depicting the joys
and sorrows of life will be performed by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point’s Campus Band and Concert Band Thursday, March 5. The concert will be
held at 7:30 p.m. in Michelsen Hall in the Noel Fine Arts Center.
The
Campus Band will perform Anne McGinty’s “Quintessence,” James Swearingen’s “And
the Angels Called,” Julie Giroux-West’s “Mystery on Mena Mountain” and Sean
O’Loughlin’s “Spirals of Light.” Leading the ensemble will be Patrick Lawrence,
assistant professor of low brass, and apprentice conductor Andrew Melotte.
The
Concert Band will present ”Fanfare Jubilee” by UW-Stevens Point Professor of
Oboe Stacey Berk, “Suite Provençale” by Jan Van der Roost, “Sleep” by Eric
Whitacre, “Corsican Litany” by Vaclav Nelhybel and “Alligator Alley” by Michael
Daugherty. The group will be conducted by Jonathan Caldwell, interim director
of bands.
Tickets are $8.25 for adults, $5.25 for senior citizens
and $4.25 for students, or free on concert day for students with a UW-Stevens
