Weeklong music and studio art camps for high school age students will be offered this summer at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point through the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) and Continuing Education.
The Camp COFAC-Music and Camp COFAC-Studio Arts camps will be held June 23-29, with instruction by UW-Stevens Point faculty members. Registration is now open for both camps for students entering grades 9–12 as well as graduating seniors.
Camp COFAC-Music is open to vocalists, composers and instrumentalists of strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and piano. During the week students immerse themselves in music, working closely with faculty members on their primary instrument in daily master classes and group lessons as well as large and group ensembles. Evening recitals, recreational activities and a public concert on Saturday, June 29, are also included. The camp is directed by Mathew Buchman of the Department of Music, and the cost is $499 if registering before May 29 ($525 after). The fee includes classes, meals, lodging, sheet music and evening social activities. A commuter option of $399, including lunch, is also available.
Camp COFAC-Studio Art participants will have five full days of instruction, including daily studio workshops and an evening life-drawing workshop, as well as open labs and social events. Studio classes will include glass fusing and slumping, metal casting and relief sculpture, mixed media painting, assemblage sculpture and a design challenge. A gallery exhibition of campers’ work will be held on Saturday, June 29. The camp is directed by Mark Brueggeman of the Department of Art & Design. The cost is $650 if registering before May 29 ($675 after). The fee includes all workshops, supplies, meals, lodging and evening social activities. A commuter option of $550, including lunch, is also available.
