The newly formed Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra program is taking registrations for this fall.

Students in grades 6-12 who register before Saturday, August 23, receive a discount. Early registration is also encouraged as audition time slots will fill quickly. Auditions will be held Sept. 6-7.

The program offers a full Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia (string orchestra) and Junior Wind Ensemble. Kurt Van Tiem, a music director at P.J. Jacobs Junior High School in Stevens Point, is the founding director. Rehearsals will be held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Noel Fine Arts Center and a concert will conclude each semester.

The program is supported by UW-Stevens Point and area music educators. Information and registration materials are available through UW-Stevens Point Continuing Education online at www.uwsp.edu/conted/artculture/Pages/cwyso or by calling 715-346-3838.
