A free program that aims at providing entrepreneurial skills and information for veterans will be offered in Wausau next month through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Small Business Development Center.

Boots to Business Reboot is a two-step training program. It provides veteran participants an overview of business ownership as a career vocation, an outline and knowledge of the components of a business plan, a practical exercise in opportunity recognition and an introduction to public and private sector resources.

The first part of the program, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 22-23, at River Valley Bank, 327 N. 17th Ave., Wausau. It is available free of charge to military service members (including the National Guard and Reserves) and their spouses, and is led by the U.S. Small Business Administration and skilled business advisers.

Following this introductory course, participants may take an eight-week online course, Foundations in Entrepreneurship. This is taught by professors and practitioners through the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University.
