Jillian Noble drew an ampersand a day for 100 days.
Her continuous work has turned into an art exhibit at the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point March 23-April 19.
An associate professor of graphic design at
UW-Stevens Point, Noble will present “Ampersand” at the Carlsten Gallery,
located on the second floor of the Noel Fine Arts Center. Forty prints of more
than 100 ampersands will be on display. The show’s opening reception will be
held Monday, March 30, from 4-6 p.m.
“Beginning Sept. 12, 2013, I challenged myself
to draw, digitize and publish one ampersand each day via a website titled
am.persand.me,” said Noble. “On Dec. 20, 2013, I hit 100 ampersands in 100 days.”
Noble has taught at
UW-Stevens Point since 2007, specializing in web design, print production and
environmental design. She is the co-founder of Elbongürk, a small graphic and
web design firm in Stevens Point. Noble has also done work for the Chippewa
Valley Historical Museum, helping to create multiple exhibitions and a
multimedia object theater. She earned a master’s of fine arts in graphic
design at Iowa State University.
Free and open to the public, the Carlsten Gallery is open
Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., plus Thursdays from 7–9 p.m. and
