5/31/2013

Discover an opportunity to travel and hike in Switzerland and France through a presentation by the experienced guide who will lead the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point trip this August.
On Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m., UW-Stevens Point German Professor Richard Ruppel will share his own experiences of previous trips to Europe as well as provide information on the upcoming trip. The presentation will be held at the Portage County Public Library Pinery Room, 1001 Main St., Stevens Point, and will include stories, photos, ideas and answers to questions. The event is free and open to the public, with snacks provided.

Ruppel and UW-Stevens Point instructor Jutta Brendel will lead the August 3-18 hiking trip, which includes stops at the Swiss and French Alps, the Matterhorn and Mt. Blanc. The trip is geared for many fitness levels and ages of participants, with several hiking options as well as other transportation options. The itinerary and details may be found at UW-Stevens Point’s Adventure Tours website, www.uwspadventuretours.com.

According to Meg Stiefvater, a participant of 2012’s Adventure Tours hiking trip in Switzerland and Italy, "Having leaders so well versed in the language was both a learning opportunity and just plain helpful in negotiating around the area.”
