UW-Stevens Point to host graphic arts conference

Explore facets of retail, web and corporate design, art direction and hand lettering and take part in networking and graphic design portfolio reviews with professionals at the nowHERE Design Conference. It is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). 

Themed "Light the Fuse," the conference will be held Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1, at the Noel Fine Arts Center at UW-Stevens Point. It is open to students of graphic design and members of the public with a personal or professional interest in graphic design.

Friday will include presentations by UW-Stevens Point alumni Ryan Quade, a senior graphic designer and art director at Affirm Agency in Pewaukee, Wis., and Kylee Hawkinson, a design associate at Fast Horse in Minneapolis, as well as portfolio reviews and a networking dinner.

Saturday's events begin with a hand-lettering workshop with alumnus Jon King, followed by portfolio reviews, lunch and a presentation by keynote speaker Alex Center, a Brooklyn-based designer for The Coca-Cola Company. The afternoon includes presentations by two UW-Stevens Point alumnae who work at the Duluth Trading Company: MacKenzie Kavanagh, a web designer, and Lanea Zagrzebski, a retail graphic designer.
