The Story: Two best of friends, Proteus and Valentine, are separated when Valentine journeys to the big city. Once there, he falls in love with Sylvia, beautiful daughter of the Duke. Proteus leaves Verona and his girlfriend, Julia, to follow Valentine. Proteus also falls in love with Sylvia, and vows to win her at all cost, even if it means betraying his friend. Julia, meanwhile, shows up and disguises herself as a man to keep an eye on Proteus. In an escalating series of misadventures, Proteus attempts to betray his friend and is foiled, Julia's identity is revealed, and all ends happily in this early romantic comedy by William Shakespeare.
