Caller ID lets you know who is calling before you answer. The telephone number of the person calling will appear right on the wireless telephone. Caller ID works on most digital phones, and works in most ALLTEL areas.
Why won't my cell phone number show on the Caller ID number?
In order for your wireless phone number to display on Caller ID, you need to
unrestrict your number by dialing *85 and sending the call. When you do
that, you will hear a series of beeps indicating that the number has been
unrestricted. You will only have to do this once, unless you use your phone
in a roaming area, in which case, you will need to dial *85 SEND when you
return from your trip. In addition, your number does not usually appear on
Caller ID when you are roaming.
Caller ID Blocking per Call (Block your wireless number from displaying on someone else's Caller ID display on a per call basis.
- To activate: Dial *67 + number to activate (include area code), then press SEND.
- To deactivate: Dial *82 + number to be unblocked (include area code), then press SEND.
Caller ID Permanent Blocking (Block your wireless number from displaying on someone else's Caller ID display on a permanent basis.
- To activate: Dial *65, then press SEND.
- To deactivate: Dial *85, then press SEND.
