Purchasing

Many of the products and supplies that are purchased for use on campus have been eco-friendly for years. Some of the green products purchased on campus include:

  • GreenGuard furniture that is produced locally and made from lumber in local forests in residence halls
  • GreenGuard cleaning supplies that don’t contain any harsh chemicals in residence halls
  • GreenGuard carpet and ceiling tiles that are recycled and low VOC in residence halls
  • GreenGuard paints that are water-based and low VOC in residence halls
  • Double-pane windows for insulation in residence halls
  • Window coverings for light control in residence halls
  • Energy Miser vending machines in residence halls
  • Motion and time-sensored lights in common areas throughout campus
  • Low flow aerators on sinks, showers, and toilets throughout campus
  • Compact fluorescent and T-8 light bulbs throughout campus
  • Metasys, ballasts, metal halide lighting, motor frequency drives, zone dampers, meters, building automation systems, and better monitoring systems throughout campus
  • EnergyStar appliances throughout campus
  • Supplies bought in bulk and reusable pumps and bottles throughout campus
