Professional Affiliates
UWSP works alongside a number of professional organizations
for the common goal of promoting sustainability in society,
especially in higher education.
*AASHE
– The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in
Higher Education (AASHE). As a member, our mission is to
promote sustainability in all sectors of higher education -
from governance and operations to curriculum and outreach -
through education, communication, research and professional
development.
*MREA
- The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) promotes
renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living
through education and demonstration. Each June the MREA
hosts the Energy Fair. This event is the world's largest and
longest running energy education event.
*WPS
– Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), UWSP’s energy provider,
currently supplies the campus with energy from renewable
sources such as wind and biomass through its NatureWise
program. UWSP currently purchases 23% of its campus-wide
energy through NatureWise and 40% in the residence halls.
*Focus
on Energy and
WECC
– Focus on Energy is a current partner in the funding of the
UWSP KEEP program. Focus on Energy funds for the KEEP
program are administered through the Wisconsin Energy
Conservation Corporation (WECC).
*Energy
Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping
us all save money and protect the environment through energy
efficient products and practices. UWSP uses ENERGY STAR
appliances throughout campus, including the Dreyfus
University Center Food Court and the Debot Dining Center.
