Other Continuing Education
So, what if you aren't a student but still want to learn more about
sustainability and how to protect the Earth and its natural resources?
UWSP Continuing Education, along with programs and services
offered through the UW Extension, offers courses, programs, seminars,
workshops, and other educational tools for all ages.
*UWSP Continuing
Education - UWSP Continuing Education offers students, working adults, and
other special audiences educational training in a variety of disciplines,
including sustainability. The program provides non-students the opportunity
to attend conferences, such as the Wisconsin Climate Change Summit and BioPlastics
and Composites: Wisconsin BioProducts Future, so that anyone can learn about
what is going on in their community regarding sustainability and what they can
do to contribute. Teachers can take add-on courses to supplement their degrees
such as Environmental Education Teaching Methods and non-traditional
students can learn about preserving natural resources and living sustainably
through courses such as Biodiversity and Conservation Biology. UWSP Continuing
Education even offers an extended Masters of Science graduate program in the
area of Natural Resources/Environmental Education for K-12 teachers.
*UW Extension Cooperative Extension - The UW Extension Cooperative Extension's mission is
to bring the knowledge and resources of the University of Wisconsin to people where
they live and work. They offer a number of resources and programs
to provide education in environmental protection, energy management, and land use. UWSP has partnered with the UWEX Cooperation Extension in
a number of natural resource research and education centers, including the
UW Extension Solid and Hazardous
Waste Education Center and the
Central Wisconsin Groundwater Center.
The UWEX Cooperative Extension has also created a number of teams consisting of UW System
and UW Extension professors and staff, such as the
Bioenergy - Bioeconomy Team, that work
together to provide research and resources to any Wisconsin resident, professional, or
educator who is interested in supplemental learning and expertise in a particular field.
The UWEX Cooperative Extension also provides access to a number of bioenergy and research
conferences, such as the
Fifth Annual Wisconsin Renewable Energy Summit, as well.
*UWSP also offers a
Master of Science in Natural Resources. Areas of emphasis include
forestry, forestry-recreation, urban forestry, wildlife, fisheries, limnology, resource
management, youth programming, environmental education, international resource management,
land use planning, soil science, aquatic toxicology, groundwater, watershed management,
and water chemistry.
