Nature Art

The Nature Art Project of The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society sponsors an annual art show, which began in 1994. It represents wildlife/wilderness/environmental themes to reflect upon nature. It encourages interdisciplinary participation from the community to give an opportunity for those interested in producing such artwork.

Contest Guidelines

  • -Anyone may enter and there is no limit on the number of pieces submitted/artist.
  • -Artwork must have a wildlife, wilderness, or nature theme represented (but there may be human elements). Categories: Flora, Fauna and Scenic. Subcategories: 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional.
  • -All 3-D media is accepted, and 2-D media is accepted except photographs. As long as it would reflect upon nature, traditional media forms may be utilitzed, and also natural materials (soil paintings, plant pressing designs, wood carvings, rock shaping, etc.). For photographic media, refer to UWSP's Natural Resource Honor Society, Xi Sigma Pi - xisigexec@uwsp.edu, for details on their special photo contest.
  • -Artwork is usually displayed in the spring semester (may be in coordination with Xi Sigma Pi's photo contest and the CNR undergraduate research symposium) in the College of Natural Resources and at a community place like the Portage County Public Library.
  • -Anyone passing viewing the show may judge and cast a ballot (public choice). "Best of Show" is not by public choice (determined separately by a specific judge's pick). While there are no rules for how to choose an entry, the following should be considered: The moment or essence of what is captured or being conveyed and how it reflects upon nature. Originality and creativity. Artistic skill or effort displayed - the overall quality of presentation. The top most-voted-for works in each category will receive an award and will be displayed on this website.
  • -For further rules and entry forms, watch for them at the College of Natural Resources Peer Advising Office (CNR 180) and the Portage County Public Library bulletin board in the spring semester.
  • -For further questions or comments, contact UWSP Wildlife Society... wildsoc@uwsp.edu / 715 346 2016 / CNR 359 A.
