Hopefully, we will be honored again next year!
UPDATE 4/10/08

College Days for Kids gives middle school kids the
opportunity to come learn about some of the disciplines UWSP has to
offer. The kids really enjoy this and it is a great activity for
the club. Our class is nothing too in depth, so don't be afraid if
you're not a soils expert. The dates for it are listed below.
Contact Sam if
you would like to help out, we need all the help we can get!
- April 4th: 10:20AM - 11:20AM, 12:40PM -

- April 11th: 10:20AM - 11:20AM

- Tiffany Becker, an education
student at UWSP, would like a couple people from SWCS to speak to one of
her student-teaching classes. Tiffany teaches second grade and
would like us to come in and wrap up a soils unit she will be teaching.
We don't have specific dates or times, but we will keep everyone posted.

if you're interested!
- There will be a youth conservation day held on April
27th at the Isaac Walton shooting range from 12PM - 4PM. This is an opportunity
for kids to learn about natural resources and conservation. As an
organization, we have the opportunity to set up an activity for the
kids. We have come up with an activity, but now need some people
to run it. If you want to help, contact
Sam.
- SWCS T-shirts will be available soon in assorted
colors and sizes. This year's t-shirt has the Antigo Silt Loam
logo on the back and the SWCS logo on the front. The cost will be $13. Email
Leslie Day if you
would like to purchase one or have any
questions.
- Paul Huber has presented our club with a great
learning opportunity. For the last couple years, Paul has been
working with Growing Power out of Milwaukee. Growing Power is a
non-profit organization focused on educating people on building
sustainable food systems. They have asked Paul to perform some
soil tests and Paul would like to know if anyone is interested in
helping. Paul is looking for people to collect samples as well as
help test them in the lab. If you're interested, contact
Paul Huber.
If you're interested in more information on Growing Power, you can visit
their website.
- Spring semester dues are due to Sam; $5 for the
semester or $10 for the whole year.
