The shoot took place on a great sunny day, and even though the final score was SLEA: 56 Ikes: 66, everyone had a great time.
Boys and Girls Club Ice Fishing Day - 2008
A group of kids from the Boys and Girls Club came out to McDill pond this year to learn about ice fishing- they were taught about the different equipment used, and they were given a lesson in patience as well since the fish weren't biting! The kids enjoyed themselves regardless.
The derby this year was held on McDill Pond on a freezing cold day- but there was a great turnout of participants regardless of the weather! There were a ton of great prizes, but not a ton of fish caught. Everyone had fun anyway, and it was a huge success.

Fall Trip - 2007
The Fall Trip was held on Calvin Hettwer's land this year during the bow hunting season, thanks to him and his dad. There were a variety of activities based around learning skills, such as grouse hunting, trap shooting, ATV riding, knife throwing, and accidental off-roading! The first day members even had the chance to track and find a deer that had been shot earlier .
Spring Trip - 2007
We kept the Annual Spring Trip close to home this year. Several SLEA members went out to Mike Reid's land just northeast of Stevens Point to go coyote hunting, bow fishing, trap shooting, walleye fishing, and camping.
Boys and Girls Club Ice Fishing Day - 2007
SLEA members took about fifteen kids from the Boys and Girls Club ice fishing on February 17th, 2007. The kids learned ice safety, various fishing techniques and the different types of jigging poles.
Ice Fishing Derby - February 10th, 2007
This year's SLEA Ice Fishing Derby was held on McDill Pond just south of Stevens Point. The weather was cold and the fishing was a little slow, but we still had a great time! Thanks to all of those who made donations and came out to participate!!! We'll see ya' next year!
Our fall trip took place in Black River Falls, WI. Members had the opportunity to hunt, ride ATV's, shoot pistols, rifles, trap, and archery. The nights consisted of shining deer and enjoying a warm campfire.
This was our second chance at beating the IKES in our semester competition trap shoot. This was an opportunity to meet some cool people within our own organization and the Izaak Walton League. Unfortunately, SLEA was not able to pull off a win. The final score: SLEA - 63, IKES - 77. We'll get em' next semester!
We had some of our members help out Conservation Wardens on the fall salmon run near Lake Michigan. Members did a good job notifying Wardens about multiple violations.
The first annual SLEA picnic was a success! Over 30 people showed up, at least half of which were new members! We all had a great time, great food, and all shared stories of our favorite memory of SLEA (along with a little information about ourselves).
The first annual competition between SLEA and the Izaak Walton League. The final score ended up being very close: SLEA - 102, IKES - 108.
Boys and Girls Club Ice Fishing Clinic - February 11th, 2006
Twelve kids from the Stevens Point and Plover Boys and Girls Club came out to McDill Pond to gain experience ice fishing. Each kid got hands-on experience along with assistance from members of SLEA. All members of SLEA volunteered their time to help the kids. Seeing the smile on the kids' faces when one girl pulled out her first fish out of the ice, which just so happened to be a 29 1/2 Northern, made the day well worth it!
Ice Fishing Derby - February 4th, 2006
SLEA hosted its 5th Annual Ice Fishing Contest. The fishing was a bit slow, but it was still a great day. Only two fish were registered, therefore, many of the prizes were given away as door prizes. Overall the day was a success, as we had over 70 people entered.
Ice Fishing Trip to Eagle River - January 27th, 28th, 29th, 2006
We had a great time, along with a few firsts for the group! A few members experienced their first fish through the ice, first time drilling a hole with an auger, first time snowmobiling, or first fish ever caught! The first night we enjoyed a delicious fish fry just south of Minocqua. We then went to bed early in order to wake up at the crack of dawn to enjoy a long day of fishing. We had a beautiful first day out on the ice: a lot of sunshine along with many fish caught. We caught northern pike, bluegills and walleyes. The second day we were blanketed with quite a bit of snow and didn't catch as many fish, but we still had a great time. We went home happy, carrying fish, good memories, and a few new experiences.
Fall Trip - October 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 2005
