UWSP Society of Physics Students
Model Rocket Launch
Each year the SPS invites grade-school kids and their parents to build and launch model rockets.
Parents of grade-schoolers:
Sometime in the spring semester the UWSP Society of Physics Students will be hosting a model rocket program for grade-school-age kids. The program will begin in the morning or early afternoon in room B104 of the UWSP Science Building with each participant constructing a rocket. The rocket construction sometimes is followed by a planetarium show and then time for participants to eat lunches they bring from home depending on the start of the event. The rockets will then be launched and the event will end near late afternoon. Participants will be able to take home the rockets they build. A $7 dollar fee will be collected by the UWSP Society of Physics Students to help defray the costs of the rockets*. Because space and supplies are limited, confirmed preregistration is required. To reserve a spot for your daughter or son, please call the UWSP Department of Physics & Astronomy office at 346-2139 or email nstokosa@uwsp.edu. Parents are encouraged to attend with children younger than 8 years old. A parental consent waiver is available below, and will be collected prior to rocket building.
* The Society of Physics Students is a non-profit organization.
