Fun With Blood
For the Wilderness First Responder class, Athletic Training student brushed up on their acting skills and set out to enact a real-life rescue. Here's the story:
Amy and Mary were out horse back riding when Mary hit her head on a branch and fell off her horse Tonto, knocking her unconscious. Amy jumped off her horse to help Mary, but broke her ankle in the process. She crawled over to Mary to try to stop the bleeding, but started having a diabetic reaction. Both fell into unconsciousness. Ashley and Ty went to their rescue, but Ty go distracted and decided to climb a tree to look as some bugs (he's a biologist). The tree he climbed was too small and it started to fall. Ashley ran to try to catch him. But, Ty still hit the ground hard and broke his femur. Ashley broke her wrist trying to catch him. Once Ty was on the ground, Ashley applied traction to his leg and frantically screamed for help. This is where our wilderness first responders enter.
