Conference Trip: For anyone going to the conference April 25th-26th, you need to make sure your emergency information and hold harmless forms are in to Dr. McCabe by Wednesday, April 23rd. (But hopefully earlier, and I think most people have them in already. On Friday the 25th, we are thinking of having two groups leaving at different times. One group will leave at about 10:30, and another at 2:00. We'll be back by around 2:00 on Saturday. We'll probably eat somewhere for lunch; bring money along for this. Also, please have $5 in to Dr. McCabe ASAP. (This covers the cost of the banquet).
Student Teacher Talks: Will most likely be May 5th at 4:30, we're waiting to hear back from Jim to make sure this works. Room TBA.
End of Semester Social: Will be Tuesday, May 6th at 5:00 p.m., in either room 225 or 227. As usual, there will be pizza, pictionary, maybe ice cream, and lots of fun people! Bring your schedules along so we can work out a meeting time for next semester.
Officer Position: If you're looking to get more involved with Math Club next year: We need a secretary for next semester! The job is basically this: Show up at the meetings, take notes, and email out updates to the members. Anyone interested can email Dr. McCabe, and we will vote via email. (So only Dr. McCabe sees the votes).
Mathfest: Last, but not least, please again consider going to the national MAA Conference in Madison this summer. The dates and schedules for all the talks and events can be found online at the MAA's website, http://www.maa.org/. There is also an open call for papers, if anyone is interested. The national conference won't be this close again for a long time, so take advantage of this opportunity if you can!

Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be either February 27th or March 5th, watch your email for the date.
Involvement Fair: Is coming up this Thursday, February 7th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Laird Room of the DUC. Josh has volunteered to set up the booth and sit at it for most of the night, but it would be great if we could have one more volunteer willing to trade off with him.
Student Talk: Last semester, Aaron McTavish did an independent study project with Professor Wodarz, and coming up, he will be presenting his work in a 1 hour talk geared towards upper-level undergraduates, entitled "Representation Theory." The talk will assume the audience has some familiarity with Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, everything else will be introduced during the talk. The date is set for Wednesday, February 20th at 4:00, tentatively in room A225.
Student Teacher Talks: Josh Ruk and Jim Krolikowski will be giving talks about their student teaching experiences at some point this semester. The day will probably be Monday after 4:00, more information to follow.
Update on the Website: Aaron is working on getting older pictures and meeting minutes on the math club website, the newer minutes and pictures are up. The link to the math club website from the math department homepage has been fixed, so if anyone had trouble accessing the site previously, check it out!
Conference: The Pi Mu Epsilon conference will be held April 25th-26th at MATC in Madison. This conference is slightly larger and more formal than the one at St. Norbert in DuPier, and it looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. Mark your calendars and we'll start planning more as the date approaches.
T-Shirts: We are looking to get Math Club T-Shirts from a business selling custom, solid-colored shirts for $5/shirt. If you have a design idea, bring it to our next meeting.
Student Recruitment: The math department is looking for a brochure to offer prospective freshman interested in mathematics. We can help by offering some student perspectives on what prospective students look for in the department and academic experience.
Bake Sale: The bake sale fundraiser will be sometime in February. We need volunteers to both bake and sit at the booth, if anyone is interested, email the best times that work for you and we'll try to set a good day for everyone who wants to be involved.
MathFest: This summer, the national MathFest will be held in Madison from July 30th to August 2nd. John H. Conway, a prominent mathematician, will be giving a talk entitled “The Symmetries of Things.” This is not an official math club event, but everyone is encouraged to go, it will be a lot of fun!
