Lambda Pi Eta Meeting Minutes

October 3, 2006, 8:00 pm, CAC 333

 I. Officer Elections

The following members were elected to serve as officers for this year:

    President - Steven Heller

Vice President - Lauren Kiel (fall), Emily LaChance (spring)

    Treasurer - Amy Staven

    Secretary - Alison Fischer

Scholarship Officer - Elizabeth (Beth) Franz

    Webweaver - Nelson Carvajal

II. Meeting Dates for Fall Semester

Our regular meeting dates for Fall semester will be the first Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 pm. Rooms TBA, but will most likely be in the Comm building somewhere.

III. Dues Deadlines

A.     Member dues are due on Friday, October 20th. New members’ dues are $45 (sorry, I made a mistake in the earlier e-mail), which covers your national membership, certificate, pin, and honor cords.

B.     Please make checks payable to “Lambda Pi Eta”

C.     For best results, put check in an envelope with your name and “LPH Dues” on it, and either put it in my department mailbox OR slide it under my door (CAC 209). Please do not leave it in the box outside my office door. Too tempting for would-be thieves.

IV. Induction Ceremony

Rhonda will be coordinating the best day for the induction ceremony with the new members. It will be a Saturday, likely in the early part of December.

V. Member Tasks for the Year

Rhonda asked everyone to please consider the following items as we move forward:

  1. Keep generating new ideas for fundraisers.
  2. We want LPH t-shirts or sweatshirts of some sort for members. Put on your design hats. You can get access to the official logo through the National Communication Association website: http://www.natcom.org/nca/Template2.asp?bid=21
  3. I would like one of our fundraisers to be selling Division of Communication t-shirts or sweatshirts this year. We haven’t had one for the whole Division in about 4 years. It’s time.
  4. Keep generating new ideas for making us more visible in the department, around campus, and in the community. How can we help other students? The faculty? The college? The university? The outside world?
  5. We want to have an occasional guest speaker. Be thinking about topics you’d like covered that won’t repeat what you hear in your other groups.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30.
