The Rainbow of Cultures

38th I-Dinner Coming Up!!!

On Saturday, March 8, 2008, the International Club will hold our 38th annual International Dinner and Entertainment, “The Rainbow of Cultures”. The guests will be able to experience a night of good entertainment and good food. Had you attended the dinner, you would have been taken on a trip around the world, tasted different delicacies from countries around the globe, and experienced the traditional delights and cultures presented by the International Club members.

This year, we are back at the Laird Room in University Center. We will have a sit-down dinner for 250-300 guests.

Preparations for this event were not easy! In order for the night to happen, 12 different committees had to work hard to ensure that the guests would have a good time. Over a span of four months, two advisors, seven officers, 30 co-chairs and over 100 members from this community and all over the world worked hard to come together to create a special evening. Their goal is simple: To encourage understanding between foreign students and the local community, be it through sharing their culture, experiences, or even food.

The club as a whole is continuously advocating and standing up for the importance of understanding between different races and cultures. The club believes that in today's time and age, this is very important, as we are becoming increasingly globalized and interdependent. Many conflicts arise due to misunderstandings and miscommunication. It is very important to promote awareness and understanding between us all. In a way, any effort that goes in this direction helps people understand each other. The International Club’s annual International Dinner & Entertainment is a step towards this goal.

On the day itself, committee members, officers, and advisors rushed to get decorations up, food cooked, final dress rehearsals done, and a lot more. As the evening drew closer, guests started arriving. Members had gone home and changed, many had changed into their beautiful traditional costumes. The guests had an hour and a half of social time, where they ate hor ‘doeuvres, enjoyed the violin and piano performances out in the courtyard, and looked through our silent auction items. Then it was time for the entertainment.

We will be selling tickets starting from Monday Feb 18.
