GTU – Geography Club Meeting Minutes
February 2, 2006 1:00 pm Present: Anna Hess (President), Jonathan Hanes (Vice President), Anders Huseth (Secretary), DR. LARSEN.
1. Bowling night scheduled for February 21st (most likely @ Skipps)
2. Spring Banquet and Awards presentation tentatively set for early April. Location undecided (potentially Michelle’s, Sentry, ect…)
3. Candy Sale for Midterms discussed. We will be sending the mailing around the end of February. Candy Bags will be tentatively priced at 15 dollars.
4. Spring Canoe trip to the Black river or water permitting the eastern fork of the Black on April 8th.
5. Hiking within Devils Lake state park set for April 22nd
6. Photo Contest dates set for February 20th – March 3rd. entries are 1 dollar per picture, you can drop off entries in the Geography/Geology Office starting on the 20th.
7. Association of American Geographers conference (March 7-11th) see officers or Dr. Larsen for more info
8. Wisconsin Land Information Association conference in Wisconsin Dells (March 1-3). We will have transportation to the conference on Thursday the second. Sign up with Dr. Larsen ASAP.
9. Involvement Fair Tuesday 7-9pm. Come see your officers enjoying manning a booth in the Pointer Express.
10. Winter Camping in the Porcupine Mountains (February 24-26th tentatively). Think about your gear and what you need, solid winter sleeping bags, snowshoes, and good tents are essential (rentals available from Outdoor Edventures)
11. Potential for a Geography/Geology Club Spring Break trip. Here are a few of the options.
