GTU/ Geography Club Meeting Minutes  2/12/2007

Upcoming Events of the Semester:

• Bowling Night:

  • Wednesday, February 21^st, 8pm-10pm

  • Location: Five Star Lanes in Plover

    • Address: 1960 Post Road

  • Cost: $2

  • Sign up sheet on the projects room door

• Backpacking Weekend in the Porcupine Mountains

  •  February 23-25

  • Departure: around 5pm Friday and return Sunday evening

  • Sign up sheet will be posted on Dr. Larsen’s door

• Ice skating/ ice fishing/ snowshoeing on Lime Lake/Standing Rocks Park:

  • Saturday, March 3^rd at Corinna’s house on the lake

  • Time to be determined

• Event with the Geography Club of UW-Lacrosse

  • It was suggested we make this our canoe trip on the Black River

  • Pam Roberts will get in contact with the Lacrosse club and see if that idea will work with them

  • Event will probably take place in April

• Spring Candy Sale:

  • Will talk more with Diane to determine that timing that the letters have to get mailed out

Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) Conference:

·        March 7-9^th in Appleton, WI at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel

·        Program is attached above

·        Volunteer form is attached above

·        Students can volunteer at  the conference and if do so will receive free registration and lunch for that day

o       Student jobs include poster registration, working at a silent auction, and working as room monitors (duties include turning on and off lights, passing out handouts, etc.).

o       Working as a student volunteer will give you exposure to professionals within the GIS, Urban Planning, and Land Records fields.

·        GTU will get a van to car pool to the conference (on Thursday, March 8th)

o       Will depart around 7am and return around 6pm

·        DEADLINE :  SIGN UP BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH
