GTU/ Geography Club Meeting Minutes 10-16-2006

                                             

 

                                            Date: Monday, October 16, 2006

                                            Time: 1:00pm

                                            Officers Present: Brook Bonack (President), Nick Musson (Vice President), Alex Lawton (Treasurer),

                                                        Corinna Neeb (Secretary), and Dr. Eric Larsen (Advisor)

 

 

Events of the Semester:

 

Bonfire at Dr. Lemke’s:

  • October 27th  and in case of poor weather October 28th is the rain date

  • Bring a dish to pass

  • Vegie burgers and turkey hotdogs will be provided

  • Time is yet to be determined…look for the posters that will be placed around the department

 

Backpacking Weekend in the Porcupine Mountains:

  • Date: October 20-22

  • Will leave Friday evening at 5 pm and return Sunday evening

  • Dr. Larsen/ Alex Lawton are the contact persons and Alex will lead the trip if is sufficient student interest in going

  • Posters will be placed around the department with more information

 

Halloween Candy Sale:

  • Volunteers will be needed to help in the filling the bags with candy and in delivery of the bags to the dorms (candy will be bagged Friday, October 27th in room B304 at 3pm & bags delivered Monday, October 30th)

  • The letters went out to the parents last week

  • Alex and Nick are in charge of buying the candy a few days before the bags will be put together

 

Holiday Banquet:

  • Will be either the first week of December or the last week of November (probably on a Thursday evening- Dec 7th or Nov 30th)

  • Nick works at the Country Club and so will inquire about available dates and pricing

 

Bowling Night:

  • Will call around to find out what night is open bowling at the area’s bowling alleys

 

Photo Contest:

  • Anna Hess asked if we wanted to hold a contest this fall, she volunteered to help get it organized

  • Watch for emails/posters regarding this

 

No Change in Meeting Time/Day:

  • After tossing out possible times, it was decided to keep the meeting day and time the same for this semester (every other Monday at 1:00pm) because it was the only time that all of the officers could meet on a regular basis without conflicting with work or classes

Meetings:

  • Next meeting will be on Monday, October 30th in room B347 at 1:00pm
