We improved our advances and retreats this week, as well as learning the redoublement. Great job on picking up everything so quickly! Next week we'll be improving our parries and discussing tournament tactics.
We're having a tournament on Saturday December 8th!!! This tournament will be open to spectators (so invite your friends and family!). It will be a foil only tournament. Everyone will be guaranteed at least 5 bouts, possibly more. It will be in HEC 110 on Saturday December 8th. Registration opens at 12:30pm and closes at 1pm. Bouting will begin shortly there after. There is a suggested donation of $1 per friend or family member who comes. You can get a pdf handout with more information here.
The armoury workshop went well last night! We had four fencers attend. Both non-electric and electric repair and maintenance were covered. We also spent a little while talking about uniform maintenance.
Last week everyone learned the glide. We are nearing the end of learning new techniques for a while. We will be spending the next month or two perfecting everything that we have learned thus far. Everyone continues to amaze me with their progress!
There will be an armoury workshop on Monday November 26th at 6pm in CCC 207. This will cover repairing non-electric foils, sabres, and épées. Weapons and tools to practice on will be available, although you are more than welcome to bring your own.

We had another great week here at the UWSP fencing club. We learned the balestra and flèche this week. Next week we will be learning the glide and starting to teach sabre and épée to those who are interested!
The equipment order was an incredible success. It is fantastic equipment and delivered very speedily. We will be having another order in February.
Lastly, the bake sale that was scheduled for Tuesday November 13th has been canceled. Owing to a miscommunication between we three coaches, the space was not reserved properly. We would like to apologize deeply for any inconveniences this may have caused.
The beginning fencing group never ceases to amaze me. This week we learned cutovers and feints. Everyone picked it up quickly. Next week we will learn the balestra and flèche. In two weeks we will be opening up the option of learning sabre and épée!
The equipment order has been placed and should be delivered early next week. I will be distributing it one person at a time, in alphabetical order by last name. I am doing this one person at a time so as to check that everything truly fits.
This semester's Fencing Club fundraiser will a bake sale in the HEC. It will be on Tuesday November 13th, from 9am-4pm. We're going to be selling mostly puppy-chow, as that is the biggest seller. We will have a variety of other items as well. We will have sign-ups for work shifts and baking next week.
