I hope everyone is still enjoying their summers. Next week is our last week of summer practices. We'll be announcing Fall practice times in about two weeks. So stay tuned!

We are also working on hosting a Foil Coaching Clinic, to be taught by Maitre d'Armes Tony Gillham. This clinic is tentatively to be held on Sunday September 20th. USFA membership would be required. USFCA membership would not be required unless you wanted to take one of their exams. You must also be at least 18 years of age. I will pass on more information about this as we get the details confirmed.

Our competitive fencers can look forward to two USFA tournaments this Fall. The Remenyik Open will be October 17 & 18th. The Turkey Meet will be November 22nd. More information will be coming out about this later. I am also working on planning a Competitive Clinic to take place sometime before the Remenyik. If anyone is interested in competing in the USFA and hasn't talked to me yet about, please do so as soon as possible!

The Club Officers have also been discussing various ideas for fun social activities this Fall. Ideas such as game nights, going to the cinema together, another Hibachi night, etc. have all be tossed around. If you have a great idea, please pass it along to the Officers!

Lastly, we'll be opening up the Armourer Position again right away this Fall. So if you think you might be interested, check out this handout. More information and dates will be forthcoming.

We've continued to have a great summer of fencing! I've gotten a chance to spend a lot of time in one-on-one or small group lessons with everyone who has attended. We have worked on everything from renewing the attack to improving the fencing phrase.

Yesterday, I spent some time talking about Preparation. This is an extremely important topic in fencing and one I mention a lot during practices. Below are links to two articles about preparation. They are both kind of geared at coaches, but have a lot of good information for fencers as well. I encourage all of you to read these articles and take them to heart.

If you have any questions about the articles, don't hesitate to ask.
