Everyone continues to progress nicely on their beat-attacks. We also started learning about change-beats this week.

Amanda Boshers, our Treasurer, has decided to organize a new fencing fundraiser. Sarah's brainchild was to make a Fencing Club Calendar. Amanda, smitten with this idea, decided to make it a reality. If you're interested in modeling for this calendar, please e-mail Amanda. And note that Officers have no choice, their names are already on the list as available models (except Chaz who has been granted a special exemption).
Our first movie night of the semester will be on Monday February 9th, right after practice. We will be hosting the movie night in the IMC of the library. We will be watching "Scaramouche" (1952). I hope to see you there!

Last Spring, I found out about a music video that had a ton of fencing in it (thanks to the Fencing.net forums). "What Made Milwaukee Famous" (the band, based out of Texas) has a music video for their song "Sultan". The song was playing while I was working today. It has great and cool épée fencing throughout it. The only bad piece of fencing is at the end where the "coach" brings back his arm before lunging. Please don't ever do that. You can find a copy of this video here.
We are hosting two non-electric fencing tournaments again next semester. Each of these tournaments will be held in the Laird Room of the DUC. Registration will begin at 1:30pm and bouting will begin around 2pm. Mark your calendars and invite your family and friends to join us! The dates are below.
