I hope everyone is enjoying their breaks! We'll be having two practices over Winterim for those of you who will be on campus or in the area. They will be on Thursdays January 3rd and 17th from 6pm-8pm in HEC 110.

Mark your calendars! We will be having our Spring Fencing Tournament on Saturday May 3rd! Foil will happen in the afternoon like last time. We will also be having a sabre event (and possibly épée) in the morning! Tell your friends and family to keep that day free. More information will come out when we get closer to May.

There were some unofficial practices this week during finals. We had a few people show up. We did a little work on improving our form, but mostly bouted. It was a great way to let off steam.

As a reminder, next semester practices begin on Tuesday January 22nd. The new practice times are Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm to 6pm. We'll be in our usual room, HEC 110. If you can't make either practice, please talk to Henry or myself about private lessons. We want to do everything we can to allow you to continue fencing.

The equipment order for next semester will be February 4th through February 12th. It's right away at the beginning of the semester so as to give you lots of time to use your new equipment! If you bought some equipment last semester and are looking to buy more, you may want to consider an underarm protector, a sabre or épée, or maybe even a pair of fencing knickers. More information will be coming out later!

The Involvement Fair for next semester is on Thursday February 7th in the newly reopened UC. It will be from 7-9pm. More information about helping out at our booth will come out closer to February.

I will be doing a couple of Winterim fencing practices for those of you who are on campus or in the area. Tentative dates are January 3rd and 17th. Shortly after Christmas I will send out an e-mail with confirmed dates and times as well as posting it here.

We played fencing games at practice this week. There will practices next week during finals for those who are interested in a little stress relieving. No new material will be covered, just bouting and games.

Practice days and times are changing for next semester. We will be having practices on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-6pm, still in HEC 110. Practices will start on Tuesday January 22nd and run through the whole semester. If you can't make either of these times, please contact Henry or myself to arrange for private lessons. We want to do everything we can to make sure you're able to continue fencing!

We have a few new officers starting next semester! Henry is stepping up from Vice President to the Presidency. Christopher Robbins will be the new Vice President. Jordan Winfery will be Secretary. And Danielle Reed will be our Representative on the Recreational Advisory Council. I will remain as Web Weaver. Cate and Amanda will continue on as Treasurers.

We are now on the Wisconsin Division of the US Fencing Association's website! A special thank you goes out to Mike Garrison, the President of the Wisconsin Division, for that addition. Many more exciting things will be coming next semester!

Enjoy your holidays and I look forward to fencing with everyone next semester!

All of the new fencers are continuing to do really well. We worked on our parry-ripostes this week. We also got ready for the tournament that happened on Saturday. Next week we'll be playing fencing games before switching to ordinary bouting. It'll be a fun last week of official practices.

We had our 2007 Winter Fencing Tournament on Saturday. We had eleven fencers and lots of spectators. Everyone did a fantastic job! In third place was Nick Gengler. Second place went to Christopher Robbins. The champion of the tournament was David Burke. Congratulations to all of you! You can find the full results from the tournament in our new Tournaments Section!
