The purpose of the Disc Golf Club of the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point is to: 1. Promote and facilitate a variety of disc golf programs at UWSP and in the larger Stevens Point community; 2. Raise local awareness of this sport that is getting increasing attention around the world; 3. Enhance interaction and cooperation between University students, faculty and staff, and the wider Stevens Point community; 4. provide an opportunity for University students to grow in leadership abilities; 5. Bring together disc golfers on campus and throughout the surrounding community; 6. Raise money and to provide labor for the repair, maintenance, and upgrade of current disc golf courses, as well as for the construction of new courses in the Stevens Point area. :: Membership :: Membership is open to any UWSP student that fills out a membership application, signs the waiver, and pays the annual dues. An Electronic version of this form is available here. Members receive a club logo disc and discount on club league play. They are also eligible to participate in club sanctioned tournaments and road trips. Our submitted budget for FY07 would fund (roughly) two tournament registrations and two road trips per student member. :: Also... :: The disc golf club has paid for and maintains three practice putting baskets located near the dorms. These provide a handy recreational outlet for students on campus. Our club generates positive publicity for UWSP through our community efforts in support of the local disc golf courses. An example of this is that we occasionally loan the campus baskets for use in local tournaments (during summer months when the dorms are generally vacant). We also serve as UWSP ambassadors to the rest of the state when traveling to and participating in disc golf activities on Wisconsin courses. |
