Workshop Details
Bryan Collins Workshop:
You are your best Plug-In.
Using digital tools as a springboard and not a crutch.
With the advent of desktop design tools, design and digital image became accessible to anyone with a decent computer and photoshop. Does that mean anyone can be a designer? How do you transcend plug-ins and filters to manipulate images into your own handwriting? During this workshop we will explore successful methods of manipulating images to create art. It is about more than just trading tricks. It is about questioning your personal process. And always, of course, challenging yourself and your tools.
In this workshop we will reinterpret your least favorite digital portfolio piece. Through this project you will be able to apply some of the methods presented to rethink your own process in creating imagery and design.
Please, bring with you:
A print of the portfolio piece you will rework and the digital source files.
Art supplies (think outside the art box here): letreset, thread and needle, markers, whole punches, craft supplies, digital cameras,
items for inspiration, basically bring anything you want.
At the end of the workshop we will discuss the original portfolio work with the newly reinterpreted version.
Matteo Bologna Workshop:
Typographic Survivor
Stranded without a computer! This workshop will meet a whole set of sights and challenges. Will you be able to survive with a deadline, but without holding a mouse? With only minimal material can you create a message and execute it, that will make you stand out from the other designer castaways?
When concept matters more than drop shadows.
