International Summer Universities (ISU)
SUMMER 2015

Dates and Sample Academic Subjects (subject to change)

Are you interested in studying in Germany but not able to speak German? Consider participating in one of five International Summer Universities in the German State of Hessen. All five programs offer credit in German language courses at various levels. In addition, participants on each program select a 3-credit seminar course taught in English; topics and program dates vary depending on the University. This is a great experience and a great deal!

Eligibility All college students in with a minimum GPA of 2.5 may apply, regardless of their major/minor. Our Hessen partners prefer a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. A strong academic and or vocational interest in the topics offered at the selected ISU will greatly advance your chances for acceptance.

Costs

Approximately $2650-3150. This program includes the academic program, housing, some meals, excursions, UW-System insurance and social and cultural programming.  UWSP students DO NOT pay Euro program fee listed on program websites; what you pay to the UWSP International Programs Office covers all included items. Cost does not include international airfare, personal spending money, meals (that are not included in program fee) and your passport.  Contact UWSP International Programs to register. Financial Aid students are usually eligible for more loan funds to help pay for their study abroad program. (As applications are vetted through the current headquarters for the Wisconsin-Hessen exchange, UW-Oshkosh, you will also need pay a procession fee to UW-Oshkosh AFTER you have been tentatively accepted by UWSP.)


Classes and Credits

International Studies 391 for 3 credits and Foreign Language 100 for 2 credits -- 5 credits in total are awarded.; In some cases, students can arrange to receive credit in other academic fields; please see the Director, or Associate Director, of UWSP International programs for details.


Withdrawal

Up to fifteen weeks before the start of the program, all fees except the initial deposit and the Hessen application fee will be refunded for withdrawal. After that time, aditional airline and housing cancellation charges will be assessed.  If the program must be canceled, all fees will be refunded.  Because exchange rates and airline prices fluctuate, International Programs reserves the right to cancel, surcharge, or alter the program.  No refund is available after departure
