The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point provides extraordinary study programs to those wishing an education beyond the bounds of the classroom or campus. Since 1969, both the Spring and the Fall Britain programs have allowed students to experience Europe, Britain, and especially London -- now we add to this special opportunity for eligible students to do their externship/internship abroad during the summer.

This program is for UWSP students of applied physics, arts management, business, communication, English, interior architecture, history, international studies, sociology, political science, theater & health promotion/wellness:

advertising - PR - economics - financial services - marketing - TV & radio / video production - lobby groups - parliament - political action groups - archival research - museum & gallery - management - non-profit and voluntary organizations - theatre/literature - stage design and sets - orchestra or dance companies - schools - health promotion and wellness in health spas, corporations, clinics, hospitals, mental health agencies - etc.


Application: A London Internship application packet is available in the International Programs Office, Room 108 Collins Classroom Center. Permission required from your major/department Britain Internship Coordinator. Coordinator’s signature is required on the Internship application form. Students will be asked to attend an Informational/
Selection meeting and schedule a final interview.

Eligibility

Applicable majors and minors should apply (see credits offered below). Minimum GPA of 2.75 to apply.


Costs

$5900-$7000 (approximate)

Cost Includes:

  • 8-10 Week Academic Program.
  • International Airfare, Chicago-London-Chicago.
  • Internship placement, orientation, supervision. 40 hours per week .
  • Room in central London, breakfasts, and most lunches and dinners.
  • UWSP full-time tuition (Ten week internships are for 12 credits and 8-week internships carry 6-8 credits) for Wisconsin Residents (Minnesota students qualify for reciprocity.) Out-of staters pay an additional $500-1000.
  • UW-System mandatory health/travel insurance.
  • Plan your budget to cover passport, personal expenses such as local transportation in London.

* Physics Students:  6 credits of Phys 490 apply toward the major while 6 credits of Phys 390 apply toward general graduation requirements.


Withdrawal

Withdrawal up to ten weeks before the start of the program, all fees except the initial deposit may be refunded. After that time, airline, substantial intern placement fees (approx. $1100) and housing cancellation charges may be assessed. If the program would be canceled, all fees will be refunded.
