The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point provides extraordinary study programs to those wishing an education beyond the bounds of the classroom or campus. Since 1969, both the Spring and the Fall Britain programs have allowed students to experience Europe, Britain, and especially London -- now we add to this special opportunity for eligible students to do their externship/internship abroad.

This program is for UWSP students of applied physics, arts management, business, communication, English, interior architecture, history, International studies, sociology, political science, theater & health promotion/wellness. Students of international studies, geography & peace studies should check with their respective department chairs as internships may be available for them too.

Application: A London Internship application packet is available in the International Programs Office, Room 108 Collins Classroom Center. Permission required from your major/department Britain Internship Coordinator. Coordinator’s signature is required on the Internship application form. Students will be asked to attend an Informational / Selection meeting and schedule a final interview.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1 for fall and October 1 for spring for guaranteed consideration. Summer: February 15


Eligibility

Applicable majors and minors should apply. Minimum GPA of 2.75 to apply.


Costs

Cost Includes:

  • 12 Week Academic/Internship Program, 10 in the summer.
  • International Airfare, Chicago-London-Chicago.
  • Internship placement, orientation, supervision. 24 hours per week for 3-6 credits.
  • During the semesters programs, additional  courses from the UWSP Semester in Britain offerings to reach full-time status, 12 or more credits.   Standard courses include:   English, Geography, History, International Studies and Theater.   For as sample core class list click here.  In the summer, students take an International Studies 3-credit course on British culture and civilization for a total of 9 credits.

  • Room and board in central London.
  • UW-SP full-time tuition for Wisconsin Residents (Minnesota students qualify for reciprocity.) Out-of staters pay an additional $1000.
  • UW-System mandatory health/travel insurance.
  • Plan your budget to cover passport, personal expenses such as local transportation in London.

Withdrawal

Withdrawal up to ten weeks before the start of the program, all fees except the initial deposit may be refunded. After that time, airline, substantial intern placement fees (approx. $1100) and housing cancellation charges may be assessed.  If the program would be canceled, all fees will be refunded.


Special Offers

SUMMER AND SEMESTER LONDON INTERN  STUDENTS ARE ALSO ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SEMESTER IN BRITAIN’s EUROPEAN CONTINENTAL STUDY TOUR; THIS IS A PRE-LONDON- TWO-to-THREE-WEEK-TRIP.  The study-tour will focus on European Union development; stops will include Frankfurt, Heidelberg, Baden-Baden and Trier in Germany, Strasbourg, Metz and Colmar in France, Luxembourg and Brussels in Belgium.
