The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point provides extraordinary study programs to those wishing an education beyond the bounds of the classroom or campus. Since 1969, both the Spring and the Fall Britain programs have allowed students to experience Europe, Britain, and especially London -- now we add to this special opportunity for eligible students to do their externship/internship abroad.

This program is for UWSP students of applied physics, arts management, business, communication, English, interior architecture, history, International studies, sociology, political science, theater & health promotion/wellness. Students of international studies, geography & peace studies should check with their respective department chairs as internships may be available for them too.

Application: A London Internship application packet is available in the International Programs Office, Room 108 Collins Classroom Center. Permission required from your major/department Britain Internship Coordinator. Coordinator’s signature is required on the Internship application form. Students will be asked to attend an Informational/
Selection meeting and schedule a final interview.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1 for fall and October 1 for spring for guaranteed consideration.


Eligibility

Applicable majors and minors should apply. Minimum GPA of 2.75 to apply.


Costs

$7500-$8000 (approximate)

Cost Includes:

  • 12 Week Academic/Internship Program.
  • International Airfare, Chicago-London-Chicago.
  • Internship placement, orientation, supervision. 40 hours per week for Arts Management, Communications, Health Promotion/Wellness and Interior Architecture; 30 to 35 hrs. for Business; approx. 25 hrs. for English, Political Science and Sociology.
  • Room and board in central London.
  • UW-SP full-time tuition for Wisconsin Residents (Minnesota students qualify for reciprocity.) Out-of staters pay an additional $1000.
  • UW-System mandatory health/travel insurance.
  • Plan your budget to cover passport, personal expenses such as local transportation in London.

** Physics Students:  6 credits of Phys 490 apply toward the major while 6 credits of Phys 390 apply toward general graduation requirements.

*** Communication Students: In some cases P/F is an option. Not all credits are directly applicable to the major, although 3 credits do apply.


Withdrawal

 Withdrawal up to ten weeks before the start of the program, all fees except the initial deposit may be refunded. After that time, airline, substantial intern placement fees (approx. $1100) and housing cancellation charges may be assessed.  If the program would be canceled, all fees will be refunded


Special Offers

In the Fall students are eligible to participate in the semester in Britain's Continental European Study Tour. This is a pre-London 2-3 week trip (for one credit) and includes stops in places like Paris, Munich, Florence, Salzburg, Montreux, etc. Please contact International Programs for details. We cannot guarantee room in the Spring for this study tour.
