On behalf of
the students and staff within the UW-Stevens Point Upward
Bound Program I would like to express my thanks for your
interest. Upward Bound has provided services continuously
to thousands of students since 1968. Students enrolled in
the Upward Bound Program are provided a multitude of
services for the summer and school year. The Upward
Bound Program’s main goal is to prepare low income and first
generation high school students for admission and success at
a college of their choice. To this end, all students
and staff strive to do their best!
Each year
the UW-Stevens Point Upward Bound Program assists
approximately 80-90 students from 10 targeted high schools
located in central and northern Wisconsin. Services include
a 6 week residential summer program on campus and a 32 week
academic school year program which together provide academic
instruction, counseling, tutoring, skill building, and
social and personal development workshops. Students are
encouraged to remain in our program for up to 4 years to
derive maximum benefits. Upward Bound is funded through a
federal TRIO grant and is an integral part of the UWSP
campus community. Currently we are funded until May 31,
2012.
