Upward Bound
Eligibility Requirements for Becoming an Upward Bound Participant               Target Schools Listing   Target Schools Map
Program applicants must be enrolled in one of Upward Bound's 10 target high schools.  Acceptable applicants must have completed the eighth grade BUT NOT have completed the tenth grade.  Potential participants are from  13  to 18 years of age. Students MUST also meet one or more of the two criteria specified below to be considered:
A.    1.  Be a Potential First Generation College Student
            This means that a participant comes from a family where no parent
            
(or guardian) has earned a four-year college degree. 
AND/OR
        2.   Be From a Low Income Family
              Meaning that participant's family income is at or below federally
              determined low income levels (150% of the poverty level).

B.    All accepted students must have a C average (2.00 for freshmen or
        sophomores and 2.25 for juniors), be enrolled in
        college prep classes, and have a goal of entering a postsecondary
        institution of choice, either a university or technical school after their
        high school graduation.
