College Campus Visits

Beginning in the 2nd semester of their 10th grade year, Upward Bound students are eligible to participate in college visits with the Upward Bound staff.  Every fall and spring, Upward Bound staff accompany up to 20 students to at least 2 college campuses per trip to get a first hand look at some postsecondary school options in Wisconsin, Illinois, upper Michigan and Minnesota.  In any one trip, students are likely to visit a UW System university in addition to a private college.  Admission representatives at each college visited provide students with information on admission requirements, program offerings, student services and campus life.  Students also take a walking tour of each college visited to get an up close and personal view of the campus.  These trips are overnight in duration due to the distance involved.  As visiting colleges is a significant step in the college planning process, the Upward Bound Program requires that its students participate in at least 2 college visits between their sophomore and senior year.
