The Thailand Project: Higher Education as Humanitarian Aid is a partnership between
the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point (UWSP) and the Development Education Program for Daughters and Communities (DEPDC) in Mae Sai, Thailand.
Through extraordinary international cooperation, the Kingdom of Thailand made
a landmark decision to allow two stateless individuals to study abroad in the United States; Thai Citizenship was granted to one and a Travel Document was granted to the other.
On August 25, 2008, UWSP welcomed the
first two Thailand Project scholarship recipients from DEPDC: Srinuan Saokumnuan and Fongtip Boonsri.
