When you are collaborating with an investigator in another institution, research may begin when IRB approval is obtained at this institution and at your collaborator's institution. (Exceptions to this requirement may be discussed with IRB staff.) Before you begin the research, both you and your IRB must have documentation that your collaborator's IRB has reviewed and approved the protocol.
