Central Wisconsin Archaeology Center
(CWAC) |
Since October of 1997, the Central Wisconsin
Archaeology Center (CWAC) has dedicated itself to the recovery
and preservation of Central Wisconsin's cultural resources for
current and
future generations. CWAC pursues scientific excellence while
encouraging public education and an appreciation of the past.
Archaeological rescue excavations are designed to save a portion of
a cultural heritage which would otherwise be lost forever. In
addition to being a community resource, CWAC also serves as an
employment opportunity for University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
students. This employment opportunity provides valuable work
experience and income. The students are able to apply the knowledge
obtained in the classroom to actual research projects in
archaeology.
