Inclement Weather Plan

In case of severe inclement weather, the spring commencement ceremonies will be moved indoors to Quandt Fieldhouse. Ceremonies will remain at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Candidates for graduation should report to the line-up location - the courtyard of the Noel Fine Arts Center  - one hour prior to the start of their ceremony (the HEC Multi-Activity Center is closed for remodeling). Faculty should report to the courtyard area at least 1/2 hour prior to the ceremony they wish to attend.

An inclement weather plan is absolutely necessary. In the event of lightning or severe thunderstorm, we must either move indoors or cancel the commencement ceremony, an option that would please no one. We have not, in recent history, been forced to utilize an alternate commencement site, but we must always plan for the possibility.

The decision to move indoors will be made by  noon on Thursday, May 15. We will announce the change on local radio and on the commencement Web site homepage.

Please Note:

Due to fire codes, guest seating in Quandt Fieldhouse is limited. Graduates will be allotted four guest tickets to the indoor ceremony in Quandt Fieldhouse. The overflow seating area will be in Berg Gymnasium, where the ceremony will be broadcast by a professional company. Seating in Berg is first come, first served.

If on May 15 we determine that the ceremony will be held outdoors, graduates may dispose of their tickets. Seating in the outdoor location is first come, first served.
