A minor in Native American and Rural Social Work consists of 31 credits. The following core courses (25 credits) are required:

- Sociology 361, Social Wk Methods: Casework & Group Wk (3 cr)
- Sociology 362, Social Work Methods: Community Organization & Social Service Administration (3 cr)
- *Sociology 363, Rural Social Work (3 cr)
- *Sociology 364, Orientation to Native American Social Work (3 cr)
- *Sociology 365, Social Work with Native American and Other Culturally Diverse Families (3 cr)
- Sociology 376, Human Behavior and the Social Environment (3 cr)
- **Sociology 494, Social Work Practicum (3-6 cr)
- Sociology 495, Social Work Seminar (1 cr)
Six credits of electives selected from the following courses:
- Sociology 240, Marriage and the Family (3 cr)
- Sociology 262, Social Welfare Policies and Programs (3 cr)
- *Sociology 270, Minority Groups (3 cr)
- Sociology 300, American Community (3 cr)
- Sociology 306, Social Aspects of Substance Abuse (3 cr)
- Sociology 310, Social Psychology (3 cr)
- *Sociology 316, Child Welfare (3 cr)
- Sociology 368, Sociology of Mental Health (3 cr)
*As taught at UWSP, these courses include content on Native Americans.
**Students would be required to complete appropriate internships in a Native American/rural setting.
