In compliance with the requirements of the 1992 Omnibus Act, the Federal Highway Administration adopted regulations (49 CFR, Part 382), requiring employers to test employees with a commercial driver’s license for the use of alcohol and controlled substances. The purpose of the Act is to deter misuse of alcohol and controlled substances by drivers of commercial motor vehicles. The Office of Safety and Loss Control is responsible for administering this program for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

All employees with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) used for University business should be reported to Safety and Loss Control.
