A. Important Dates
B. Run Class Lists Periodically During the Term:
Class Lists are updated in real-time, so if a student has dropped your class the class roster will automatically be updated. In addition, Federal legislation requires institutions to verify a “last date of attendance” for students that have received Financial Aid but have stopped attending class. A student that officially or unofficially withdraws from school is required to repay a prorated portion of their financial aid.
If you are aware of any student(s) in your class that have stopped attending, please email Registration and Records at regrec@uwsp.edu. Include in your email the following:
NOTE: After the attendance status is processed, a date of last attendance will appear on your myPoint class
list for each student that is reported. A “W-Drop” or “Clear
Drop” message also
appears for each student that has dropped the course during the term.
C. Posting Grades
Using the student's name, student ID number, or any portion of the social security number to post grades is a violation of FERPA. Instructors are encouraged to use D2L to communicate grades and grade progress to their students. If grades need to be posted, faculty should use a random number that only the instructor and the student know. When posting these random numbers and grades make sure you do not alphabetize the list therefore losing the anonymity of the student. See also reporting final grades.
Annual Notification of Students Rights Under FERPA - Every institution of higher education must notify students of their basic FERPA rights on an annual basis. The Annual Notification link is sent in September easch year.

D. Matriculation Fee
Beginning Fall 2012, a one-time $175 Matriculation Fee was applied to all new freshmen and new transfer students tuition bill. The matriculation fee covers programming costs associated with new student orientation. In addition, the fee is used to fund convocation, commencement ceremonies and First Year Experience expenses.
