Use this screen to grant your faculty or others the authority to approve students to enroll in Permission Required (PR) or Closed (CS) course sections. When you grant such authority, the person with the designated authority will have access to the appropriate screens to electronically approve students to enroll in a PR or CS section. You have the following options for granting such authority, and you are not limited to one option. Some departments may use all three options. However, you can use only one option for a specific course and section.
Option
1: Use this
option if you want the instructors in your department to have the authority for
their own courses and sections to approve students to enroll in PR or Closed
sections.
q
Allow
all instructors to approve registrations in their PR sections. If you
check this box, all of the instructors of courses and sections in your
department will be able to electronically authorize students to enroll in their
respective PR sections. Note that instructors will only be able to
approve enrollment in their own PR sections.
q
Allow
all instructors to approve registrations in their Closed sections. If
you check this box, all of the instructors of courses and sections in your
department will be able to electronically authorize students to enroll in their
respective Closed sections. Note that instructors will only be able to
approve enrollment in their own Closed sections.
Option
2: Use this
option if you want to grant authority to an individual other than the
instructor to approve students to enroll in specific PR and CS
course sections. For example, you may want an individual in the Study Abroad
Office to have that authority for semester abroad courses or an individual in
the Credit Outreach Office for extension courses. Note that you must select the section, the name of the
individual, and whether the authority applies to PR and/or CS sections.
Option
3: Use this
option to grant authority to instructors to approve students to enroll in
specific PR and CS course sections. You would use this option if
you don’t want to grant such authority to all instructors under Option 1. For
example, you might have an instructor that will be leading a group of students
on a field trip out west. If the students must meet certain conditions (e.g.,
deposit on the cost of the trip) before they are granted permission to enroll,
you might want the instructor to review the request and grant the PR or Closed
approval to the students.
