FAQ's
What is a transcript?
A transcript is a complete history of UW-Stevens Point courses attempted and
grades received. The courses are listed in semester order and your semester and
cumulative grade point averages (GPA's) are shown after each term. It also
shows earned degrees, majors, and minors.
What is the difference between an official and an unofficial
transcript?
The main difference is that an official transcript typically reflects a higher
level of authentication and a reduced opportunity for someone to alter the
record. We use special safety paper and it includes the registrar's
signature. It is most acceptable as official if it goes directly from
UWSP to the other school or business rather than passing through the student's
hands. Some places may accept an official transcript that is given to the student
in a sealed envelope if the student sends it to them unopened. Some places may
even accept a faxed copy in place of an official record. You should make sure a
fax is acceptable before paying the charge to have a faxed copy sent. There is
a fee of $7.00 for any of the above records.
How can I get a copy of my unofficial transcripts?
You
may be able to use a copy of your course history in lieu of an
unofficial transcript, however, it is up to the
recipient to decide whether or not they will accept it. This is available
at
https://mypoint.uwsp.edu/regrec/regrec005/Default.aspx. Students can get an unofficial transcript by
coming in to the Registration and Records Office, 101 SSC. It is printed
on plain paper. There is no charge for
this record. Unofficial transcripts cannot be mailed or faxed.
Can a transcript be mailed to the student?
Yes,
it can. However, it will state that the
transcript was "Issued to the Student".
How long does it take for a transcript to be sent once the
request is received?
Generally transcripts will be mailed two to four business days after receiving
your request. Transcripts that are asked to be faxed are usually sent the same
day the request is received.
If I mark "hold for grades" or "hold for
degree", how long will it take for the transcript request to
be processed?
Normally
transcripts that are marked "hold for grades" are sent within 10 days
after the last day of finals. If you check "hold for degree",
it can take up to 30 days from the end of the term. However, your account
will be billed at the time of your request.
If I want a transcript sent by Federal Express, can it be done?
Yes, but this is a very expensive way to send transcripts. If you need
transcripts expedited, you will have to order them through Credentials, Inc. at
https://www.degreechk.com/tplus/?ALUMTRO003924.
A credit card is required for this service.
Will my transcript show my GPA in my major or minor?
No. You will need to look at your degree progress report for that information.
This is available on the web at: https://mypoint.uwsp.edu/regrec/regrec059/default.aspx.
Will my transcript show my class rank?
No,
however, if you need your class rank you can look it up on the web at: https://mypoint.uwsp.edu/regrec/regrec001/regrec001.aspx.
What if I have my transcript faxed and the receiving party will
not accept it as official? Do I have to put in another request to have it
mailed?
Yes. Most institutions will not accept faxed transcripts as official.
Does a transcript show courses and grades taken at other
schools?
We do show certain courses and grades taken at other UW campuses and
