The school mascots, Stevie and Stephanie Pointer; team name, Pointers; paw print; and overlapping “SP” maintain a distinctive identity for UWSP athletics. Campus organizations may use these team identifiers. If you want to redraw or recolor the mascots for a specific team or activity, you must receive approval from the licensing coordinator. Currently no official drawing of Stephanie Pointer exists.

Our identifiers for athletics are:
• UWSP
• Pointers (for all teams, male and female). “Lady” Pointers is not appropriate; use women’s basketball, women’s ice hockey.
• Established 1894
• Stevie and Stephanie Pointer
• “SP” overlapping in block letters
• Paw print (must be dog paw—four toes, no claws)
• Purple and gold colors. See page 20 for color specifics.
• The UWSP logo

Appropriate uses for athletic identifiers include uniforms; athletic or recreational programs, brochures, banners; garments for group identification; casual apparel; school supplies; and souvenir items sold through the University Store, Alumni Office, or team booster clubs.

Athletic identifiers are not appropriate for academic materials.
