Current Research Projects
I am broadly interested in the following three areas.

Picture (1x1, 43 bytes)
The Psychology of Justice and Fairness
Picture (1x1, 43 bytes)
Picture (32x32, 307 bytes)   This field is generally concerned with peoples' beliefs about what is fair or just (and what is NOT fair or just). Most broadly, concerns about justice and fairness have been shown to not equally apply to everyone - what's fair for one person is not fair for another. Thus, studies in this arena are addressing concerns about how we judge other people, how we determine what actions are most appropriate in the treatment of them, and how we wish to be treated.

Research on Teaching, Learning, and Student Views
Picture (1x1, 43 bytes)
Picture (32x32, 307 bytes)   This field addresses the application of social and organizational psychology to the study of teaching and other college-related issues. These studies are collaborative efforts among several psychology faculty. Past projects involved students' perceptions of classroom behavior and the impact of teacher behaviors and grading procedures on student evaluations of instructors.

Statistics and Research Methodology
Picture (1x1, 43 bytes)
Picture (32x32, 307 bytes)   I am also interested in the development and application of quantitative (statistical and measurement) practices within psychology. In my own research, I have primarily focused on advanced structural equation modeling (e.g., latent growth curves, multilevel models) and general multilevel (hierarchical or random coefficient regression) modeling. Newer research involves the calculation, use, and presentation of confidence intervals and effect sizes.

Every currently enrolled psychology student is encouraged to become involved in research. UWSP students who wish to work in areas associated with my research interests should feel free to contact me.
