The Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic officer responsible for leading both the academic programs of the university and academic personnel. The Provost and Vice Chancellor is directly responsible to the Chancellor, is the second ranking officer at the university, and acts for the Chancellor when necessary.
The administrative units directly reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor are the College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Letters and Science, College of Natural Resources, and College of Professional Studies; Information Technology; UWSP Continuing Education; Academic Success (University Library, Tutoring-Learning Center, Academic Advising, Disability Services); Office of Research and Sponsored Programs; Enrollment Management (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registration and Records); International Students and Scholars Office; and International Programs. The Provost and Vice Chancellor is responsible for the development and administration of the budget for the Office of Academic Affairs and for all of its units.
The successful candidate will embody the essential values of academic integrity and civility in a collegial community of learners and scholars.
Earned terminal degree in a recognized academic discipline from an accredited institution
Credentials that would qualify the candidate to be considered for tenure at the rank of professor at the time of appointment
Strong record of successful scholarship, service, teaching, and mentoring
Administrative leadership experience at the chair level or higher
Successful record of academic leadership, including human resources management, and a demonstrable and clear grasp of budgetary planning
Experience in the processes of comprehensive academic planning, accreditation, strategic planning, and assessment
Excellent organizational and communication abilities and analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong commitment to the principles of liberal education
Commitment to maintaining a climate of collaboration and transparency at all levels of the university community
Demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusivity
Demonstrable ability to work collegially with diverse constituencies in a shared governance environment
Commitment to faculty success and student learning
Commitment to expanding external support for faculty development/research
Commitment to outreach education and extension activities
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is part of the University of Wisconsin System. The university enrolls over 9,600 students in a variety of undergraduate and a select number of graduate programs. The university has been highly ranked among Midwestern public comprehensive institutions by the US News and World Report. The community of Stevens Point is located in the center of the state and is home to over 25,000 residents. The larger metropolitan area population is approximately 60,000. The anticipated starting date is July 1, 2013.

This is a limited, full time annual appointment with a concurrent academic year tenured faculty appointment.
